      HOT NEWS!!

FORT COLLINS FIGURE SKATING CLUB

(formerly Ice Skating Club of Fort Collins)

FCFSC Membership Drive Has Begun!!
The Club's 2010-2011 membership drive began June 7th and will continue through June 21st.

Click here to download the 2010-2011 membership application.  (**UPDATED 6/18/10)
Hard copies are also in the club file cabinet by the Green Rink.

Attention all BASIC SKILLS Members and Potential Members...the cost to join/renew is $25.00. If you have a form with the $45.00 price, please disregard and submit your application with the $25.00 fee. We apologize for the error.

All members completing their registration before June 21st will receive $5.00 off their registration fee. All renewing members must complete registration no later than July 1st.

Don't forget to complete the Volunteer Form included with the membership application! This is where you can indicate the committees or areas that you are interested in helping with. This also helps committee chairs to contact you and that helps you complete your required volunteer hours.

Please place completed forms with check in the locked drawer with the mail slot in the file cabinet by the Green Rink.

EPIC's 3rd QUARTER PERSONAL BEST FITNESS TESTING SCHEDULE
Sign ups are posted in the lobby of the rink. 10 sessions are scheduled starting Tuesday, June 29 - Tuesday, July 13th ... DON'T MISS IT!!

There is just a $5 fee for the test. Pay directly to the EPIC front desk.

New Participants can sign up by filling out a general information sheet located at the front desk with the contracts. Return it to the front desk. A brief explanation of EPIC's Conditioning Program is included on the new OFF-ICE CONDITIONING link on this site.

You'll be able to compare the previous quarter fitness test results!
Included in the results are tips to help make a better skater. A brief evaluation on their participation and ability ratings in the group classes will be included.

Skaters begin tracking the 3rd quarter "Weekly Off-Ice Conditioning Log" Sheets BEGINNING July 1st. The log sheets are marked after participating in a conditioning class or a personal workout. The file box is located in the conditioning room.

We are offering a synchro workshop again this summer and hope you will be able to come!
Special guests include Alicia Carr, Denver Synchronicity Senior Coach, and Champion World Synchro competitor for the Haydenettes and Sissel Svanoe Rhyme, Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner(R) and Gold Medalist, Adult Dance.

TRYOUTS FOR SYNCHRONIZED SKATING TEAMS

In an effort to improve the synchronized skating program and encourage more participation, we are making some changes to the program for next year. These changes include:
  • Shorter Season
  • More involvement of coaching staff to bring their strengths to the team -- guest coaches on a monthly basis
  • Formation of a Competitive Team (national-eligible)
  • Higher Standards
  • Continued fundraising to defray costs
Tryouts for Synchronized Skating Teams will be held on Tuesdays, June 15, 2010 & June 22, 2010.

USFS dictates the requirements for synchronized skating including age (as of July 1, 2010) and Moves In The Field requirements for the different teams. MIF tests must be passed by late Fall 2010 to be eligible to compete.

This year we would like to have a developmental team and a national eligible team(s) (Novice and/or Juvenile). The requirements for these teams is as follows:
  • Developmental -- 18 and under, Pre-preliminary MIF or higher, depending on level. *
  • Juvenile -- Age 12 and under with at least Preliminary MIF and preferably PreJuvenile MIF.
  • Novice -- Age 17 and under with Juvenile MIF and preferably Intermediate MIF.
To have a successful competitive season, we need a full team of qualified skaters. Please consider trying out for a team this year. It is a lot of fun and a great way to work towards a goal with your friends.

Tuesday, June 15, 2010 & June 22, 2010 (times below are for each date)
Two dates are provided to account for vacations. It is preferred skaters come to both sessions. If a skater is not available for either date, individual assessments can be arranged. Skaters may come to more than one tryout time if they are eligible.

5:00 - 5:45 pm:  Developmental Team Tryouts
5:45 - 6:30 pm:  Juvenile Team Tryouts
6:30 - 7:15 pm:  Novice Team Tryouts

There will be a parent informational meeting on June 22, 2010 at 7:30 pm. If you have any questions prior to this time, please contact Pam Kurtz at 970-396-1335, pkurtz2006@hotmail.com or Dana 970-481-3347, dana@theparlour.net or Denaysa sisemoredk@q.com.

If you know you will be attending tryouts, please send an email to Pam.

*There will also be a team for introductory synchro students run through the Learn-to-Skate program.

2009 National Showcase Results:

Congratulations to all of our National Showcase Competitors who made an outstanding showing on August 13-15 at the World Arena in Colorado Springs. We would like to give a special recognition to Joe Johnson who was 3rd in the Parade of Champions!!! The Parade of Champions participants include all of the skaters from every level who finished 1st in their respective final round competitions, from both light and dramatic artistic events, and compete one final time against each other. Joe placed third among a very elite group of skaters which is a terrific accomplishment! Our theatrical production ensembles also performed exceptionally well, with "Pirates of the Caribbean" placing 1st, and "Over the Rooftops" placing 3rd in their round!!  Way to go!!

Congratulations Skaters who competed at
The Broadmoor Open June 21-27! Great Job!!
